Consciousness Shift, Mayan Calendar Add comments

In this last post of my series on the Mayan calendar, I’ll cover Carl Calleman’s interpretation of the calendar.  In contrast to how John Major Jenkins’s work focuses on the astronomical aspects of the Mayan calendar and how it measures long periods of time, Calleman views the calendar strictly from the perspective of consciousness.  He asserts that the calendar is not about measuring time, but rather the evolution of consciousness.

While Jenkins has proved the calendar’s connection to astronomical cycles, I believe that Calleman, through his focus, shows how the calendar maps the evolution of consciousness.  Both men are simply looking at different aspects of the same thing.  As paradoxical as it may seem, it is not necessary to discount the work of either.  In fact, I encourage you to let go of preconceived ideas of rightness and wrongness and see if you can hold a space for embracing the consciousness-expanding views of both men.

Calleman’s World Ages     Using the symbolism of the nine levels of the Mayan pyramids, Calleman has developed the concept of nine Great World Ages beginning  16 billion years ago with the big bang. These world ages describe the evolution of consciousness starting with formation of cells, which then coalesced into mammals, who formed families, and later tribes and nations, developed a planetary awareness and will finally embrace a  galactic awareness.

As we move through these nine world ages, time speeds up by a factor of 20.  What took 1.26 billion years to change in the first world age took 63.4 million in the second and 3.12 million in the third. By the sixth world age, change required only 397 years.  Then it reduced to 20 years and now change requires only 360 days. He sees the possibility of time speeding up so much that it disappears entirely. Here is a chart of his nine world ages  (you’ll need to scroll to the bottom and also enlarge it – hold down control and use the wheel on your mouse). Look in the far right hand column to see how time is speeding up, starting in the first world age with 1.26 billion years and speeding up to 20 days in the last world age.

According to his model, the nine world ages unfold in waves. These waves flow from the World Tree, which he sees as an oscillating force behind the calendar,  that causes growth and evolution. He actually locates the world tree at 12 degrees east of longitude.  Within these waves are shorter periods of time called days and nights. Calleman is able to read the energetic make up of the days and nights to make accurate predictions about the economy and other world events.

(I am inserting here the following  comment made by Calleman on this blog to further explain the World Tree  – “It may be true that sometimes I have talked about the World Tree as the 12 longitude East with its roots in South Africa. It is however more correct to say that this is an expression of the World Tree which on the planetary level is the polar axis and divides the world in directions much like the medicine wheel of North American Indians and so separates the Eastern and Western hemispheres of the planet. As I describe in The Purposeful Universe the world tree also exists on several different levels where the ultimately ruling one is the cosmic. Each person is also a resonance unit for the Cosmic World Tree and it is through this relationship that we gain our consciousness. This view provides the human beings with a much greater responsibility and power to influence the course of events than if this would all depend on an astronomical cycle that we could not possibly have any power over, and which besides, in the case of the precessional 26000 year long cycle, is never ever mentioned by the Maya.” )

Calleman gives October 28, 2011 as end date of the 9th world age, which would also be the end of the Mayan Long Count Calendar from his perspective. The calendar works on many levels just as the world does at this time.  You may be experiencing this very thing yourself, feeling that you have one foot in the new world and one in the old world and that they play by different rules.  As our consciousness shifts, and we move from a solid 3rd dimensional world to a world existing at the energy level these feelings of imbalance are going to be natural occurrences.

The Tzolkin      Calleman along with Jose Arguelles, believes that the Tzolkin, a 260 day segment of the Mayan Calendar, has a special aliveness.  The Tzolkin is based on the numbers 13 and 20. Jose Arguelles brought the awareness that the 13/20 pattern is reflected in the human body with its 20 fingers and toes and 13 major joints.  Calleman theorizes that as the human being develops from the sperm and the egg and grows to maturity, it mirrors the nine levels of consciousness played out by the nine world ages. The 260 day length of the Tzolkin also coincides with the human gestation period.

So in concluding this series of posts on the Mayan Calendar,  you can see that each of the three men – Jose Arguelles, John Major Jenkins and Carl Calleman – have provided a valuable perspective on the  Calendar.  From their work, you can see the complexity of the Calendar and how it operates on many levels. It serves as a backdrop for the entire 2012 time period and from its interpretation, there are many possibility realities that could unfold. The one thing that all three men agree on is that a consciousness shift is happening.

Calleman is promoting a celebration called  the Conscious Convergence, July 17-18, 2010. Please see details here.

Basically a good summary. It may be true that sometimes I have talked about the World Tree as the 12 longitude East with its roots in South Africa. This view provides the human beings with a much greater responsibility and power to influence the course of events than if this would all depend on an astronomical cycle that we could not possibly have any power over, and which besides, in the case of the precessional 26000 year long cycle, is never ever mentioned by the Maya.

      Carl,
Thanks so much for your comment further explaining the World Tree. I have copied it and inserted it into the post so people will not miss it.

I am also willing to support the Conscious Convergence on July 17-18 and will do a post on that when we get closer to that date.

Thanks so much for your feedback.

Having studied all three well researched perspectives presented by these men, I cannot easily discount Calleman’s assertion concerning stages of the consciousness ascension process. Clearly the veil is rapidly thinning. Although similarly related, the 13 baktun’s each appear to be mirrored in the thirteen chapters of St. John’s vision as recorded on the isle of Patmos. It also appears to affirm a cosmological influence which effects the “timing” of earthly events. Regardless of these concepts attempting to be humanly conveyed, mathematics more accurately, Sacred Geometry is the language and “tree” of light; and that is what we are witnessing as it masterfully unfolds before our eyes. The 144,000 are about to sing!

      Tim,
Sacred geometry is definitely important in this whole picture of ascension and evolution. I have never tried to see how it related to the Mayan Calendar. I would be interested in hearing more from you on that.
      Thanks,

Thanks Reba for this short and concise article. I especially appreciate your willingness to hold the space for our appreciation for all those that have put their hearts and souls into interpreting this masterpiece calendar. By releasing the needs for right or wrongness we may take another step past duality to Unity Consciousness.
